This is a Seaward Downs School Golden Jubilee 1891-1948 badge.
The official jubilee was in 1941 but celebrations were postponed because of the Second World War. Plans were then made for 1948 but further postponed due to an epidemic of Poliomyelitis. The jubilee was finally held in January 1949, and more than 400 people including four first day pupils attended, two known to be Mr J.D. Campbell and Mrs Drysdale, nee Annie Ellis. The oldest pupil attending on the day was Sarah Dunlop, nee Wilson.
The school closed at the end of 1971.
