This is a framed and glazed photograph of people attending the Brydone School 50th Anniversary 1906 - 1956.
150 former pupils and teachers from Northland to the far south, attended the function at the Brydone Hall. Presiding at the function was Mr J. M. Archibald, a well known district farmer. Among those with long associations with the district present at the banquet, were Messrs T Mawdsley and James Drysdale. The toastmaster was Mr R Haye, and the Anniversary cake was cut by Mrs R Allison, the oldest first day pupil.
The first teacher of Brydone School was Mr T. Kelly who was known to the boys as 'Ned'. Kelly taught from 1906 until 1912 when he was succeeded by Miss Emma Williams. In 1937, the school was added to and remodelled to create a two roomed building.
On June 29, 2007, Brydone school closed. At the time of closure, only six pupils and one teacher, Mrs Anne Johansen, remained.
