Photograph, Framed Edendale School Jubilee 1875-1931 No 5 Decade

About this object

This framed and glazed photograph, taken at the Edendale School Jubilee 1875-1931, is of pupils who attended school during the fifth decade of operation.

The 1931 celebrations commemorated the opening of the first school in the township 56 years earlier in 1875. The school, beautifully laid out and surrounded by green lawns and gardens, had a staff of four teachers including Headmaster Mr Clapp. The oldest ex pupils at the reunion were Mrs R J Irwin (Miss J Ferguson) and Robert Shields, and former teachers who took part in the celebrations.
