This badge of the New Zealand Soldiers Association belonged to Mr Robert Douglas (Doug) Story, service number 29948.

Wounded soldiers returning from World War One founded the Returned Soldiers Association (RSA) in 1916, receiving royal patronage in 1920. Doug was gassed at Messines during the First World War and suffered difficulties from his wounds for the remainder of his life.
