About this object
This photograph is of Hugh Douglas Bain (18631), a local man who was killed during WWII.
The son of Robert Kidd and Rebecca White Bain, Hugh grew up on Alma Street in Wyndham. Prior to the war, Hugh worked as a Cheese Factory Assistant in Burnham.
Hugh served with the 26 Infantry Battalion Reinforcements in the Western Desert. He was killed on October 24, 1942, and is buried in the El Alamein Cemetery, Egypt, II. G. 17.
