Boat
About this object
Boat; a large wooden dinghy with vestiges of white paint on the exterior and red paint on the interior. The interior has three platform seats and a platform at the rear. On the left hand side is one iron strut for oars.
This boat belonged to George Low, the last owner and occupant of Fyffe House before it passed into the hands of the Historic Places Trust, who used it for fishing, and more specifically for crayfishing. George went out regularly after crayfish, using crayfish pots he 'knitted' himself in the kitchen.(1) After he retired from fishing he kept his boat in the parlour for many years.
