Photograph, Untitled [George Low]About this object
Photograph, Untitled [George Low]; a black and white photograph of George Low, taken in the 1970s. He is pictured seated on the verandah of Fyffe House, pointing to an unknown subject with his left hand. The photograph is framed in a wooden frame (XFH.85).
George Low inherited Fyffe House from his mother, Maud Low, in 1951. The Lows had occupied Fyffe House from about the 1920s. George has been described as a moody, quick-tempered character. However, he was also a shrewd bargainer who spent little and built up considerable wealth.(1) The George Low Trust Fund was established as a result of a bequest from George Low in 1974. He also bequeathed Fyffe House to the Historic Places Trust on his death in 1980.
