Correspondence Baden-Powell to CossgroveAbout this object
The museum's earliest letter from 24 July, 1908 from Baden-Powell ( founder of Scouting) to Major D. Cossgrove who was to be instrumental in organising Scouting in New Zealand into an association. At this stage it is still one of encouragement and support, and not yet into any detail of organisation for the Dominion. The first Scouting units were formed in New Zealand in 1908, all within 12 months of the experimental camp at Brownsea Island by Baden-Powell starting 1 August, 1907.Object Type
