1947 NZ Gateway for the 6th World Scout Jamboree, FranceAbout this object
Elevational sketch of the timber carved gateway used by the New Zealand Scout Contingent as the entrance to their campsite at the 6th World Scout Jamboree in Moisson, France. This gateway was taken to Gilwell Park Scout Campsite, near London, UK after the event and re-erected there as the entrance gate to the campfire circle, as thanks for the hospitality they had while in the camp prior and after their trip to France. Shipping to New Zealand was not to a regular timetable yet so the scouts based themselves at Gilwell while they waited for available ships.Date Made
