About this object

Four photographs taken at Christchurch's Sydenham Park of a Scout Rally staged in honour of the visit of the Prince of Wales who inspected the Scouts. Photo include the Prince of Wales with DCW Cossgrove in the background, the Scouts on parade with DCW Cossgrove in front, the Prince talking to DCW Cossgrove in front of the band rotunda, and the Prince with David Cossgrove facing the camera. The photos were taken by Percy Cairns, the Scoutmaster of Sydenham Scout Troop. (David Cossgrove was the Chief commissioner and organiser of Scout in New Zealand, DCW Cossgrove was his oldest son, also David, who briefly succeded his father as Chief Commissioner)
