Photograph, CWI Debutantes’ Ball with Partners; a black and white photograph showing fourteen debutantes and their partners dressed in evening wear - long white or pastel evening dresses, long white gloves and a posy for the women and black suits and bow tie for the men. The debutantes' ball was held at the twenty-first anniversary celebration of the Middlemarch Branch of Country Women's Institute in 1956. The photograph is taken in front of the stage in the Strath Taieri Community Centre ("the hall"). On the stage are floral arrangements and the Middlemarch branch of CWI banner, a piano and an un-named pianist. Above is a banner with the inscription: "For Home and Country."
