This is a booklet detailing the Rules of the Gore Club. The Gore Club was a men’s exclusive club where the 'objects of the club (were) the social intercourse and literary advantages of its members'. The then president of the club was Gore Mayor Dugald Poppelwell. During the Mataura Licensing District's no-licence (prohibition) era the Club carefully managed the provision of alcohol for its members and as a result enjoyed exclusive membership. The Club is still active.
