A group of well preserved Late Jurassic (147 million years old) Araucarian cone scales from Port Waikato, North Island, New Zealand. When Araucarian cones drop to the ground they shatter into individual cone scales. This group of scales possibly come from a single cone. These cone scales were produced by a tree growing on the eastern shore of the ancient supercontinent of Gondwana.Object Type
