Shand Mason fire appliance - horse drawn, manually operated with 4 wheels. This appliance consists of a reel carrying leather or canvas hose, mounted on a one-axle chassis with large wheels, over 1.5 metres (5 feet) in diameter, and with a handle projecting forward. Designed for use by 22 men, 11 on each side of the vehicle. Painted bright red with yellow lettering and black painted ironwork.
