If anyone wants information about our tupuna Reha Kau Hou the whangai he raised is still alive today. The oldest grandaughter is still alive too. He is a descendant of Te Ruinga - period. Indeed there are written desriptions and records of his signature as Ngati Rahiri particularly - the collective name of 14 tribes awarded the Aroha Block 1878 Native Land Court Hauraki Minute Book 10 page 370. Fact is stranger than fiction.
His wedding picture of his marriage to Parehauraki Stevens of Thamed provided by Emily Ngakuru was included in the 1980 Centenerary publicstion 'This is Te Aroha'. There exists a tapestry of the same potrait which was removed from the marae wharenui at Tui Pa by unknown persons.
Reha Kau Hou was one of the many Chiefs of Te Aroha. To deny this heritage is an indication of fictitious mischief based ob hearsay. Descendants of Chiefs act chiefly.
