About this object

Kerrie Hughes studied fashion design at Wellington Polytechnic. In the 1980s she opened two boutiques, first Svelte and then Siren in Ghuznee Street. Subsequently she left Wellington for London, where she completed further studies in fashion at the St Martins School of Fashion. In 1990 Kerrie Hughes and friend Penny Meachin opened their own boutique in Soho called Idol, where they specialised in clothing embellished with detailed hand work. Kerrie Hughes returned to New Zealand in the early 2000s.
