Gertrude Stein and Alice B Toklas were American Jewish Lesbians who lived in France, mostly in Rue Christine on the Left bank. They survived Nazi occupation by having friends who were influential. Gertrude Stein was an experimental writer and considered herself a genius while Beth Hudson the artist is a humble lesbian, a former nun.
