Mary was born in 1849. She was married to Charles Mitchell c. 1870's.
Her parents were Achillas Bedford Wade and Nancy Wade, nee Davidson.

Mary documents her parents life growing up in Missouri. They married and moved westwards, finding a home in Kansas. They travelled with their 2 young daughters to the gold fields in the Rocky Mountains. They found gold and returned to their farm in Kansas, where one of their daughters Mary met & married Charles Mitchell.

The family has a connection through Ada May Wintle nee Elvey b. 1906 d. 1982 of Tara, Mangawhai.
Mary Ann Francis Mitchell nee Wade, was Ada May's grandmother.

The Mangawhai Museum has a travelling trunk which travelled with the family in a covered wagon during the 'gold rush' era. (eHive number 102)
