A collection of laminated A1 size family tree charts of 7 Hogan family members and their descendants, all descending from Charles Hogan b. 1825 d. 29/12/1886 married in 1847 Elizabeth Priscilla Hogan (nee Rawlings) b. 1831 d. 24/04/1911.

The leading members are; Ann Elizabeth Hogan, b. 1849 d. 1910, Kezia Louisa Hogan, b. 1852 d. 1920, Sabina Christina Hogan, b. 1853 d. 1918, George Hogan, b. 1855 d. 1931, Sarah Hogan, b. 1859 d. 1938, Mary Hogan, b. 1862 d. 1917, Charles Edward Hogan, b. 1865 d. 1927.

Charles Hogan was born in England and was a soldier in the British Army. Private 2680 of the 58th Rutlandshire Regiment of Foot at Mangawai, NZ. He retired from the army on August 31, 1857 and began work with local boat and ship builder, Donald McInnes. He had accepted a gratuity payment from the Army and bought part of Lot 90, comprising 86 acres. This was across the Mangawai river on the Black Swamp Road. He built a pontoon which he used to transport people and goods across the water.

He immigrated to NZ with his wife & first 3 children in 1854-55.

Elizabeth Priscilla Hogan, born in England and married at the age of 16yrs, to Charles Hogan in 1847. They had 8 children (5 daughters & 3 son's) Their 2nd son Charles died aged 3yrs.

Later known as 'Granny Hogan' she was a midwife to the local residents up until 1911. She never lost a baby and her only instruments were a pair of scissors, a piece of string and a bottle of Lysol.
