About this object

A: Rismondo Lupis (known as Mondo) was a gum digger around the Mangawai area. His father, Paval (known as Paul) Lupis, b 1834 d 1916, was recognised as the first Dalmation settler to New Zealand, arriving in 1858. Pavel married his wife named Mariji.
B: Rismondo Lupis (known as Mondo) digging gum around Mangawai. Note handle of gum spear on right which was used to find gum in the ground.
