Rafting Spike; 848

Name/Title

Rafting Spike

About this object

Known as "Ring Dogs". The spike was hammered into Kauri logs so a chain could be threaded through the ring on top. This would allow a large number of logs to be rafted together, before moving them on water. Used by the Leslie Family in the wider Mangawhai area.
