An original New Zealand Herald newspaper article, dated 23rd March 1968, with the heading 'Battle Raged over the strongest Maori Pa'. Written by Kristin Zambucka. The article is about the British conflict with Maori at Ruapekapeka in 1846.

An extract from the book titled 'Maori Wars of the Nineteenth Century'. Author, S Percy Smith. A chapter has been photocopied that include pages 1 to 26 with pages 5 & 6 missing. The title of the chapter is 'Te Ika-a -ranga-nui, 1825'. There is information regarding the battle between Nga Puhi of Northland and Ngati Whatua of Kaipara, at a stream named Waimako which runs into the Otamatea River at Kaiwaka in 1825. The battle was called
Te Ika a ranga nui.
