There are two diaries written by members of the Wharfe Family.
They are A3 sized copies from the original diaries.
The first diary is titled 'Day Book'. The author was Thomas Wharfe
Entries start from 3rd June 1883 and finish 20th February 1886. Not all entries are shown during this period.
Thomas Wharfe b. 1836 d. 1911 married Maria Wharfe nee Unwin b. 1841 d. 1911 in 1860. They were early european settlers of North Albertland (also known as Oruawharo)
The second diary is titled 'The Day Books of John Wharfe' with the author being John Wharfe.
Entries start at June 1892 and finish at December 1896.
John Wharfe b 1838 d 1928 and Ann Wharfe nee Day b 1839 d 1908 bought land and raised their large family at The Tara, Mangawai.
Noted on Good Friday 31st March 1893, is the sinking of 'The Ruby' that was wrecked at the Mangawai Estuary Harbour bar at Mangawai Heads.
