This small telescope has an upper brass barrel of five retractable parts. One of these parts are inscribed with "F Hull esq. from F J Robinson, Belfast, October 1859".
The lower part of the barrel is wooden in a maroon colour. There is a small plaque on the wooden barrel that has an inscription "To Robert Parlan in Memoriam".
In excellent working order.
Note: Francis Holme Hull b 1816 d 1884 received this telescope from a friend before leaving for New Zealand on October 1859. They sailed on the clipper "Blue Jacket", arriving in Auckland in 1860. He married Eliza Hull nee Mc Neil b 1815 d 1901. They built their home, 'Fairburn', on the corner of Baldrock and Gibbons Road, Kaiwaka.
They had 6 children.
