Scale model; a small-scale model of the schooner, Owake, made by Robin Watkins.
The Owake was originally built in 1874 by William McPhee on the banks of the Owaka River. It was launched in August of that same year, and, at a length of 80.2 feet, was the largest vessel built in the Catlins. The Owake was owned by local saw-millers Guthrie & Lanarch.
