About this object
Postcard; a card featuring a printed poem and photograph collage. The collage includes images of shaking hands, British and French flags, pansies and the ocean. The poem reads:
To one who is doing his bit for King and Country,
Man's most utmost Benediction and the best
Is what my heart implores for you today,
"God bless you" tis for you my one request
As now you enter on your untried way.
God bless you, Lad!
When duty calls you in the eerie night
To go where death unseen is lurking near;
Or mid the madness of the frenzied fight
You stake your manhoods strength without a fear
God bless you Lad!
God bless you Lad!
And guard thro' toilsome day and longsome night
Till peace and Love war's darkling clouds dispel
Till Victory once again shall crown the Right
Then bring you back to those who love you well.
God bless you Lad.
