About this object

Crayfish hoops; two crayfish hoops, each consisting of a fishing net stitched to an iron hoop. These were originally made by Cecil Harrison (1907-1983) in the 1950s. Mr Harrison made the hoops off False Island, to catch crayfish in the rock pools. The hoops were restored in 2007, for the 100 year reunion for Surat Cottage, Newhaven, which was built by Cecil's father John Edward Harrison.
