About this object
Basket; a ladies personal hand basket. About the size of a small suitcase, this basket is tightly woven in a simple design. The lid is hinged with wire and fastens via two leather straps with metal buckles. Between the two buckles is a short carrying handle of brown leather.
This is said to have been used by Mrs Mary Ross (nee Dunlop) of Purakauiti around 1908.
