Wrapper, butter
About this object
Butter wrapper; a commemorative Fernleaf butter wrapper, celebrating 150 years of New Zealand butter exports. The wrapper is gold-coloured with text in blue, red, green and black.
Printed on the wrapper: Once upon a time butter came in one pound pads, just like the one you are holding. The local grocer would use a pound of butter to measure other foods such as flour and sugar. However, in 1976, New Zealand modernised to the metric system. A pound of butter is equivalent to 454 grams in today's measures.'
