Mr Twort and a colleague Mr Glyn, leased a butchers shop alongside the Coffee Palace in Owaka, c1894. They were the first butchers in Owaka to make white puddings and scald a pig in a bath of hot water to get the hair scraped off. They soon dissolved the partnership and Mr Twort returned to Nelson.

on back: Mr Robert Twort was one / of Mr Browns workers. When the / estate wound up at the time / of his death 1894. He and Mr Glyn / leased Mr A Todds butchers shop / alongside the Coffee Palace. They / were the first butchers in Owaka / to make white puddings and / scold a pig in a bath of hot / water to get the hair scraped off. / They soon dissolved partnership / and Bob returned to Nelson. / Photo of shop on wall. / Previous to this boiling water in a / kettle was poured on the hair until it / could be scraped off.
