School Exercise Books, Owaka District High School, 1948-1950.

Beautifully illustrated and written work books belonging to Tahakopa pupil Arthur Stoddart in the subjects of science, geography, agriculture, horticulture, social studies.

Arthur was Dux of the Owaka District High School in 1949 and achieved the top mark in the NZ School Certificate Examination. The family moved to Mosgiel and he became Dux at Otago Boy's High School in 1951 and winner of a University Scholarship. He became a lecturer at Otago University after earning a bachelor's and a master's degree in mathematics. He gained a doctoral degree from the University of Michigan in 1964 and joined the faculty of the Western Michigan University in 1967. He retired as Associate Professor Emeritus of Mathematics in 1996 and died on 06.09.2013 at Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. (obit 27.09.2013 WMU News) His brother, Henry, taught at Owaka DHS and became Head of the Maths Dept. at Otago Boys High School.
