About this object
Bed warmer; a ceramic hot water bottle, glazed cream and brown and with moulded leaf designs around the screw-top opening. The opening is sealed with its original ceramic screw-lid with a black, rubber seal. One end of the bed warmer is glazed brown and has a ceramic handle with a moulded flower design on the end. Stamped into the opposite end is: 'E 1Qt'.
This bed warmer belonged to Ivy Patterson (nee Wright), who lived in the Catlins from the age of 17, she worked at Whites Store, Owaka during World War One. After the war she married Stanley Gordon Patterson of Dunedin and they took up a farm in Glenomaru.
