About this object

Apron; a large apron, handmade from a sugar sack. The top and bottom edges have been covered with a strip of red and white tartan fabric. The ties have been made from scraps of purple, green and white floral fabric. On the front is sewn a large pocket of blue and white geometric-patterned fabric and on the back at the top hem is a loop for hanging. On the back of the apron, printed text from the sugar bag is visible: "New Zealand Sugar Company, Pure Cane Sugar, 70lbs, Auckland"
