About this object

Sampler worked on wide weave linen with Berlin wool depicting each letter of the alphabet in capital letters stitched with a different brightly coloured wool for each letter. In the centre are numbers zero to nine within a border and underneath this is the maker's name, 'Mary McDonald' and date completed 'Finished June 24th 1874'. At the base are the initials W.H. New Zealand.
