Whale vertabrae from a whale stranded at Whale Bay, Raglan. 1 of 3 held by the museum.Subject and Association Description
A whale stranded at Te Whaanga Bay area on the coast near Raglan, sometime around the late 1860's gave this bay its name. Another whale met the same fate here in the 1900's. Apparently the whales, swimming close to shore, entered the bay where they were stranded.Collection
