Christening gown WW1
About this objectA christening gown. This was originally a parachute silk scarf bought back from WW1. Wilfred Sheppard gave it to his mother Rachel Anne Sheppard. Rachel later gave it to her granddaughter Mary Garmson. Mary cut the scarf in half and made a christening gown. Mary's children and nieces were christened in it. Wilfred also gave a scarf the same to Emily Smith (nee Sheppard) who gave it to her daughter Clarice.
