About this object

A photograph of Dr James Carolan in uniform of the Medical Corps. Dr Carolan was a physician and surgeon in Matakohe during the 1890's and was involved with the Otamatea Mounted Rifles before WW1. In 1910 he was Major James Frederick Carolan M.R.C.S., Eng. N.Z. Medical Corps and was just promoted to Lieutenant Colonel ( Auckland Star, Volume XLI, Issue 217, 13 September 1910, Page 2).
