About this objectCollection of medals belonging to 24217 Pte. Rodney David Parker, C Company 24th Battalion. 1. The 1939-1945 Star, a six-pointed star with a GRI/VI monogram in centre, a Royal crown at top. The ribbon has three stripes of dark blue, red and light blue. 2-3. The Africa Star with 8th Army Clasp, this is identical to the 1939-1945 star but has 'The Africa Star' inscribed instead. The ribbon has two buff coloured stripes either side of a red stripe. Inside the buff stripes are thin dark blue stripe on the left and a thin light blue stripe on the right. 4. The War Medal, with the head of King George VI on front and a Lion crushing its enemies 1939-1945 on the back. The ribbon is red, blue, white either side of a red stripe. 5. New Zealand War Service Medal. King George VI on front with a silver fern and 'For Service to New Zealand 1939-1945' on the back. Black ribbon with white edges. 6. Commemorative Greek War Medal 1940-41. Awarded by Greek Government in 1980 for participation in the campaign 1940-41. Bronze medallion with '1940-41 HΠEIPOE AΛBANIA MAKEΔONIA OPAKH KPHTH' on one side and the head of King George II on the other. Blue and white striped ribbon.
