About this object

Men's suit c. late 1800's. Black barathea single breasted jacket with four covered buttons to close front opening, cut away hem at front. Back is fitted with a split at waist centre back to bottom hem, with pockets either side, two small buttons at each corner at the start of split. Two small buttons at cuff. Short stand up collar. Left side pocket at chest. Right slit pocket at waist. Inside pockets. Lined with black cotton, with blue cotton in sleeves. From donor's family home 'Big Hollow', possibly belonged to one of donor's grandfathers David Smith or Robert Sterling.
