About this object

Christening gown worn by donor's father Herbert Osborne who was born c.1912 in England. White cotton with long skirt and small bodice, short sleeves decorated with broderie anglaise and eyelet embroidery with a scalloped edge. Bodice decorated with an inset of handmade lace ribbon, with drawn thread work. Skirt has a large upside down V inset of alternating pin tucks, eyelet frills and large eyelet embroidery insets. Bottom edge has machine net lace.
