Subject and Association DescriptionPainted for Toss Woollaston when he was working as a Rawleigh's man in Greymouth (1949 - 1968). The black Tau Cross, at centre, is used by McCahon as a protective motif and this straddles the entrance of Greymouth Harbour. This painting has a 'twin' painted at the same time and in a similar style and format, dedicated to John Caselburg and in the collection of The Hocken Library.
