Panmure BridgeAbout this object
Photographic copy of "Panmure Bridge" by G. Rawlinson. 1914.
The painting features the swing span Panmure Bridge over the Tamaki River. The orientation is looking east from Panmure towards Pakuranga Road and the Howick hills. The bridge toll house and swing span are visible on the far side of the bridge. The swing span allowed ocean going vessels access further up the Tamaki River to the Otara and Pakuranga Creeks which was important for communication and trade.
The painting is in a naive folk art style.
