Our grants programme has now closed for the current financial year, but it will open again for Helping Hand, Travel Subsidy and Professional Development grants on 1 July 2018.
In the last few weeks, I’ve found myself providing advice about grants, including discussing museum projects, best alignment to criteria, and helping museums to progress their grants through to payment.
For those that have had a grant approved in the 2017/18 financial year but have yet to receive the funds, I’d recommend checking your organisation has sent in an invoice. Further information about what needs to be included can be found in the email about your grant being approved. If you have sent an invoice, contact one of the NSTP team to check it is on track for payment.

Sometimes people can be uncertain about the criteria, the application process or payment. The details below will hopefully clarify any questions you might have.
How to apply?
Please contact one of our team to talk about your application and it’s alignment to the criteria if you have any questions. Make sure you send it in with all the correct supporting documentation, including:
- supplier quotes for the items and or services you want
- recent annual accounts
- bank statement/s
- legal status (e.g. trust / incorporated society).

How are applications processed?
You will receive acknowledgement that we’ve received your application within two weeks of applying.
All grant applications are assessed by NSTP staff. If any aspects of your application are missing or we need a little more clarity we’ll come back to you.

If my grant is approved, how is payment made?
When we let you know the result of your application, we will provide you with information about how to invoice us, including a purchase order number. Your organisation (e.g. museum, gallery, iwi, hapu, marae trust or incorporated society) will need to send NSTP an invoice for the agreed amount.
It’s important to note that NSTP requires an invoice directly from your organisation as we’re unable to pay suppliers.
However if this is your first successful grant from NSTP you will not be loaded into our financial system yet. We will first send you a ‘new vendor’ form to complete and return, before we can send you a purchase order number.
Once you have purchase the items and / or services it is important that you send us copies of the relevant receipts or invoices for us to keep on file for auditing purposes.
