  • Detailed information Cecil Frank Twidle of Havelock, killed in action at Gallipoli, World War 1. Photograph scanned from contemporary magazine (1914-1918).

Notes: When the first casualty lists from Gallipoli began to come in, photographs of those who were wounded, or who died, began being printed in the main pictorial weekly newspapers of the day. This practice began with the Boer War and continued through the Second World War. These photographs are taken from the Auckland Weekly News, Christchurch Weekly Press and the Otago Witness. These men are all commemorated on the Marlborough War memorials.

Marlborough Museum would like to thank Phil Beattie for research and technical assistance.
