This Leyland Crusader was bought new through NZ Motor Corp. by Southern Transport in 1971 for NZ$35,000, which was a lot at the time. It was operated by the company until 1977, when it was sold back to NZ Motor Corp. They sold it in 1980 to Stan Williamson of Te Puki. It then went to Armstrong Quarry of Kati Kati in 1985, then to McConell Dowell at NZ Steel in 1986, and to R. C. Young (a market gardener of Waimauku) in 1987. Bill Richardson bought it from R. Young for Bill’s son Harold in 1993. Harold had spotted it in Young’s yeard, and he remembered it from his childhood. Bill picked it up on the 5th of May, 1993. The restoration was completed in August 1995.
