The FG series trucks were introduced in 1960. Billed by BMC as having an angle-planned cab, they were referred to by the British truck drivers as threepenny-bit cabs, obviously because of the similarity of the cab shape to the threepenny coin of the day. FG trucks were built in 30 cwt (one-and-a-half-ton), two-ton, three-ton (such as this one), four-ton and five-ton versions.
This one was bought new by Southland Carrying Company, who sold it to Empire Fowarding Company in 1976. H W Richardson Group Ltd got it when they purchased Empire in 1993.
