This unusual truck was bought new by the Canterbury Dairy Farmers Ltd of Christchurch. They had a fleet of Austin Loadstars and when they wanted one with a 20' deck to cart milk cans, they ordered this vehicle, which is based on an Austin Loadstar coach chassis with a cab instead of a coach body. It was driven by George Hashchild who was a brother-in-law of Bill Harris of Tai Tapu Garage, whom Bill Richardson bought his 1946 Ford V8 COE from. Both George Hashchild and Bill Harris were killed in a plane crash. The trucks went to Lew Woods of Melody Farm at Motukarara, sometime after 1964. Gerard Taylor found it for Bill Richardson in 2002.
