Scout Scarf
About this object
Scout Scarf; this Mataura Scout Group scarf belonged to Ian McKelvie who had a 48 year involvement with the Mataura Scout group. It is the scarf he wore when he first joined the group in 1937. The design and badge denote the local Scout's origins as a Salvation Army group. Ian's involvement with the group spanned fifty years during which time he served in a range of roles up to Commissioner for the Lower Mataura District.

We have a photograph album recording Ian's scouting activities between 1947 and 1951; the reference is MT2012.2, if you would like to have a look.
