About this object
A matt white ware vase in the shape of leaves.
Work on this vase is listed in the log book created by modeller Tam Mitchell. It had the working title of “Curly lettuce vase” and was originally modelled on 11 October 1960, but may have required further alterations. From this plaster of Paris model, moulds would have been made which would have been used to slipcast multiple copies of this vase.
The vase also appears in the 1962 Price list, with the shape number of 640. From another item in the archive, we know that the 640 vase was first produced on 24 November 1960, and was given the in-house title of “Scale leaf ball.”
