About this object
A cup in the popular ‘Autumn splendour’ pattern.
‘Autumn splendour’ was probably Crown Lynn’s biggest selling pattern. It was produced from around 1960 and was still available in Crown Lynn seconds shops as late as 1982. It was produced using a stock transfer acquired from the U.S.A. This transfer was applied to the ware, which was then clear glazed.

Improvements in mechanisation and processes developed in the 1950s and early 1960s led to a huge growth in the company. By 1963, Crown Lynn was producing eight million pieces of crockery a year, and by the end of the 1960s their ware was in most New Zealand homes.
